On February 4 of this year, within the framework of the project "Modernization of hydrometeorological services in Central Asia" (additional funding), Component C", a seminar on the topic was held at the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan: "Identification of the needs of stakeholders in hydrometeorological services".
The organizer of the event is the NGO “Umedbakhsh”
This seminar was attended by the top management of the Agency and specialists from structural divisions. During the presentation, the head of the Hydrometeorological Center, Saidzhamolova P., briefly introduced the Agency's specialists to the identification of the needs of stakeholders in hydrometeorological services. Highlighted that the Agency for Hydrometeorology had achieved a significant improvement in providing lead times for forecasts; the accuracy of general-purpose weather forecasts and hydrological forecasts for the growing season has also been significantly improved.
Hydrometeorological services should be based on user needs in product development and use feedback between providers and users to achieve continuous improvement.
It also requires information providers to understand how information is used so that it can be tailored to user needs and integrated into decision-making. To further deepen this understanding, everyone needs to stimulate the development of new processes and ensure a fruitful dialogue between the providers of weather, water and climate information and the user community. And, in turn, users can contribute to the meteorological/hydrological service assessment process.
These assessments can be extremely helpful as the Agency works to understand the needs of its customers and improve products and/or customized services for users.
