The Central Asia Hydrometeorology Modernization Project, Component C, funded by the World Bank, has been completed in the Agency for Hydrometeorology. The implementation of this Project was carried out from November 1, 2011 to December 31, 2018, the main purpose of which is to reduce human and socio-economic risks associated with extreme weather and climate events.
The World Bank Country Management Unit for Central Asia and Project Task Team agreed to explore continued investment in the hydrometeorological services of Central Asia, including the National Hydrometeorological Service of Tajikistan.
Additional Financing for the Project is aimed at:
• Completion of planned activities that were not implemented due to lack of funds;
• Ensuring more sustainable achievement of the Project Development Objects;
• Expanding activities to build a user-responsive and reliable hydrometeorological service system.
During the implementation of the Additional Financing, 16 activities are planned aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Tajikhydromet, strengthening the hydrometeorological observation network and improving the service delivery system.
The Financing Agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Development Association was signed on June 25, 2019.
Currently, the process of ratification of the Financing Agreement is ongoing. Additional Financing for the Project will start after the completion of the process of ratification.
