On July 27-28, 2020, within the framework of the "Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin" Project (Additional Financing) with the support of the Asian Development Bank and with the participation of representatives of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a training on Gender Issues and Social Development was held in the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The training was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Asian Development Bank with the aim of improving professional skills, providing information on social and gender issues, as well as strengthening the managerial capacity and the capacity of senior and mid-level specialists of the Agency for Hydrometeorology.

During the event, 40 employees of the Agency for Hydrometeorology were trained and informed about gender development priorities, women's participation in resource management, gender equality and aspects of current legislation on gender issues.

It was noted that within the framework of the "Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin" Project (Additional Financing), special attention is paid to gender development, involvement and cooperation of women, as well as to improving their professionalism in the field of management, marketing, finance, and environmental assessment.

Participants of the training noted that such events are timely and purposeful, and also create a favorable basis for improving their knowledge and skills.
