Workshop with stakeholders: Project Implementation Outcomes in 2020 and Implementation Plans for 2021
On February 26, 2021, at the Agency of Hydrometeorology of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan held a workshop on the Outcomes of the Implementation of the Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin Project (Additional Financing) in 2020 and the Implementation Plan for 2021. The workshop was attended by 40 representatives of ministries, committees and departments of the republic.
The Director of the Agency of Hydrometeorology, Mr. Dustzoda D. S., noted that today, due to the increasing process of climate change on the planet, there is a need to support projects implemented in this direction. Despite the difficulties in 2020, the project has implemented its activities in accordance with the plan. The “Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin” Project (Additional Financing) has a contribution in the field of meteorology, hydrology, agrometeorology and climate change, which facilitates to the implementation of high-level activities in the field of organizational and legal reform of the infrastructure of the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
Mr. A. Homidov, PIC Deputy Team Leader, provided information on the activities of the Project Implementation Consultants in 2020. It was noted that international consultants work remotely and, in cooperation with national consultants, and the necessary recommendations for the implementation and coordination of the project were prepared, as well as a number of remote training sessions were conducted for the staff of the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
PIG Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Mr. M. Muzaffarov, provided stakeholders with information on the outcomes of the project in 2020 and the project implementation plan for 2021, and information on the outputs of the project's gender activities was provided by the Social Development and Gender Specialist, Ms. L. Yadgarova.
The participants of the workshop highly appraised the progress of the project in 2020 and noted that the implementation of the project will create a favorable basis for the use of advanced methods and approaches of hydrometeorology.
