On December 5, 2023, within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, a high-level event on "Global action to protect glaciers" was held on the initiative of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the event the issues of the "International Year of Glacier Protection", the process of creation and implementation of the "International Glacier Protection Fund", glacier monitoring, glacial lake hazards in the context of climate change were discussed with the participation of country delegations, representatives of world communities and independent experts.
Our country was represented at this event by the Head of the Glaciology Center of the Agency for Hydrometeorology Rakhmonov Ramazon.
