On 27 November 2025, the second meeting of the Working Group on the development of the National Glacier Conservation Fund, the National Action Plan, and the Subregional Action Plan on the Cryosphere was held in Dushanbe. The event was organized at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with UNESCO, UNDP, and the Global Environment Facility, within the framework of the project “Enhancing the Resilience of Central Asian Countries through Strengthened Cooperation in Assessing Glacio-Nival Systems and Developing Integrated Approaches to Sustainable Development and Climate Change Adaptation.”

Conducting a national training on gender sensitivity in the collection, archiving, and monitoring of the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)

On 27–28 November of this year, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representation in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, a national training was held at the National Library of Tajikistan on the topic “Gender-Sensitive Training on Developed Guidelines, Protocols, and Indicators Based on ETFRAP and ETFIA for Data Collection, Archiving Updates, and Tracking NDC Actions,” with the participation of representatives from the relevant ministries and agencies of the country.

Conducting a national training on the country’s commitments under the Paris Agreement

From November 18 to 21 of this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representation in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, conducted a national training on topics related to the Republic of Tajikistan’s commitments under the Paris Agreement. These commitments are defined at the national level through the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), Greenhouse Gas Inventory, Transparency Framework (ETF/MRV), Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), National Communications under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and other climate-related issues. Representatives from relevant ministries and government agencies of the country participated in the training.

19 November 2025 The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Glacier Preservation and has designated 21 March as the annual World Glacier Day starting in 2025. This decision underscores the need to increase global awareness of the role of glaciers, snow, and ice in the climate system and the hydrological cycle, as well as the serious socio-economic and environmental consequences of their rapid change. At the side event on 19 November in the Cryosphere Pavilion, participants reviewed the progress of the two working groups of the International Year of Glacier Preservation: • Working Group 1: Global Team of the International Year of Glacier Preservation 2025, • Working Group 4: Policy Advocacy, Partnerships, and Resource Mobilization.

On 15 November 2025, on the sidelines of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-30) held in Belém, Brazil, a side event titled “From Promises to Progress: Central Asia’s Climate Action through NDC 3.0, Methane Reduction, and Regional Initiatives” took place. Staff members of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the event. The event was organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
