On March 21-22, 2025, Tajikistan, UNESCO & WMO marked World Glacier Day and World Water Day through a series of high-level events in Dushanbe, New York, and Paris. These discussions reinforced the urgent need to protect glaciers and mountain water sources, which are essential for billions of people worldwide. At the UN Headquarters in New York, experts warned about the alarming rate of glacier retreat. Tajikistan's Foreign Minister, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, shared a poignant story that put a face to the crisis. He spoke of Suhrob, a farmer from a rural village in Tajikistan, whose crops once flourished thanks to the steady supply of glacial meltwater.

On March 20, 2025, in Paris, as part of the event dedicated to the first celebration of the “World Glacier Day”, an important meeting was held between Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Professor Bethan Davis from Newcastle University, Great Britain. The meeting was devoted to the possibilities of cooperation in the field of glacier monitoring and expeditions in Tajikistan in connection with the previously expressed interest from the University of Newcastle through the Embassy of Tajikistan in the UK.

On March 20, 2025, on the occasion of the international day of “Navruz”, a festive event was held at the Agency for Hydrometeorology with the support of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and its subordinate structures, where “Navruz” rituals were demonstrated, such as an exhibition of folk crafts, national dishes, a festive table "Haft Sin and Haft Shin" and sports games.
