On January 16-18, 2024, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for environmental protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with financial support from the Green Climate Fund and technical support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), within the framework of the project “Ensuring an effective process of the National Adaptation Plan (NPA) for Tajikistan”, held a training seminar on the topic “IPCC 2006 Guidelines and software for the Inventory of greenhouse gases in the energy sector” with the participation of international experts.
The main objective of the practical training is to support the national Greenhouse Gas Inventory Team of Tajikistan in improving the compilation of the next greenhouse gas inventory for the energy sector using the IPCC 2006 software.
During the training seminar, issues of Tajikistan's National Greenhouse Gas Inventory within the framework of the UNFCCC were discussed: general trend, production volumes by sectors and categories with an emphasis on energy, organizational mechanisms, methodologies, data collection, data gaps, uncertainties, and existing tools for calculations when compiling the report.
National experts are expected to improve their knowledge and skills in using IPCC software and learn how to automate the process of estimating greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector.
