Summing up the Committee’s participation in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) - COP28

On February 7, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, on the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development in Tajikistan (USAID), a round table was held on the topic “Summarizing the results of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the Convention of the Organization United Nations on Climate Change (COP28)” with the participation of representatives of the country’s ministries and agencies, development partners, civil society and the private sector.

        The main purpose of this round table is to present the results obtained within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and reflect decisions.

        At this event, representatives of the Committee and Agency of Hydrometeorology presented 3 presentations in which the following results were discussed:

- consideration of negotiations and their impact on the climate finance process;

- COP28 results and their impact on climate finance from developed countries and international organizations;

- results of the activities of the National Pavilion Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of COP28.

        The director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Qurbonzoda Abdullo, and the Head of the USAID Tajikistan, Mr. Peter Riley, took part and spoke at the event.

The Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, Dear Kurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, emphasized in his speech on the problem of climate change and its adverse effects, operational measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and in this direction mitigate social, environmental and economic benefits.
