On 4 September 2026, a ceremonial event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the participation of the Agency’s leadership, veterans, and staff of the sector.
The event was also attended by Rustam Barot Latifzoda, Member of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan; Shukurzoda Isfandiyor Shukur, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, a state and public figure and participant of the 16th Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan; as well as Habibzoda Zohir Izzat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan in the Sino District of Dushanbe.
The event was opened by Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, who delivered a welcoming and congratulatory address. He congratulated those present on the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and highlighted the significant achievements made by the country during the years of independence.
In his address, it was emphasized that over the 35 years of state independence, under the wise leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, the Republic of Tajikistan has achieved unprecedented progress and development, attaining significant results across all areas of socio-economic life, including the hydrometeorological sector.
It was noted that, thanks to the continued support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the country’s hydrometeorological observation network has been significantly expanded, while modern technologies and digital systems have been introduced. These measures have created favorable conditions for improving weather forecasting and early warning systems, as well as enhancing the level and quality of hydrometeorological services provided to the population and sectors of the national economy.
In their remarks, the guests emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan is today recognized internationally as one of the leading countries in promoting issues related to glacier preservation, water resources, and adaptation to climate change. It was noted that the international initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, in the areas of water, climate, and environmental protection contribute to strengthening international cooperation and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the event, a number of employees of the sector were awarded certificates of honour and letters of appreciation for their dedicated work, significant contributions to the development of the hydrometeorological sector, and in connection with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The ceremonial event concluded in an atmosphere of celebration, strong patriotic spirit, pride in the achievements of the independence period, and respect for national values.
