In accordance with Decree No. 1184 of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, dated June 15, 2026, the International Water Award of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan has been established. The establishment of the International Water Award of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is a logical continuation of Tajikistan’s global initiatives in the field of water and stems from the visionary leadership and forward-looking policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.

The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan adopted Resolution No. 330 dated 3 June 2026 “On renaming the Vanjyakh Glacier as the ‘Tajikistan Glacier’”. This resolution was adopted in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Names of Geographical Objects” and provides for the renaming of one of the world’s largest glaciers as the “Tajikistan Glacier”.

Within the framework of the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (SB64) held in Bonn, a meeting took place between the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, and the leadership of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), Dr. Henning Wuester, operating under the support of the UNFCCC.

On 8 June 2026, the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection, Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, took part in the opening of the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (SB64) in Bonn. The conference will continue until 18 June and represents a key milestone in the preparations for the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP31), which will take place in November 2026 in Antalya.
