On September 3-4 of this year, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Representative Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), a two-day training was held aimed at strengthening technical capacity on issues related to climate change.
The training covered key topics, including "Nationally Determined Contributions" (NDC), "Biannual Transparency Report" (BTR), "Monitoring, Reporting and Verification" (MRV), and National Communication (NC).
The event was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments, higher education institutions and research institutes of the country. The participants expanded their knowledge and skills in the following areas: “Structure and content of the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR)”, “Integrating a gender perspective into the preparation and implementation of national climate reports (BTR and NDC)”, “The concept and structure of the NDC, “ ”Mechanisms and significance of the MRV system,“ ”The role of the National Communication (NC) as a detailed report on the country's climate actions.”
The group also discussed topical issues related to climate change in Tajikistan, as well as ways to effectively implement the national climate strategy.
Such trainings contribute to strengthening national capacities and training specialists for the implementation of the international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of climate change.
