From 13 to 16 January 2026, on the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, trainings were conducted to strengthen technical capacity.
The training covered important climate-related issues, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRVs), National Climate Communications (NCs), and the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP).
Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, and research institutes from the country participated in the trainings, where they learned about Tajikistan's commitments under the Paris Agreement and how to implement them. Participants received detailed information on preparing a national greenhouse gas inventory, developing a reporting system, and implementing adaptation and mitigation measures.
It should be noted that one of the main mechanisms for ensuring transparency in the republic's climate reporting is the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR). This report reflects information on greenhouse gas emissions and removals, progress in implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and adaptation measures.
