Consultative Meeting on the Topic: “Formulation of the Updated Climate Commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan within the Framework of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0”

On March 13 of this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), within the framework of the project “Support for Enhancing the Nationally Determined Contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan under the Paris Agreement on Climate Change (NDC 3.0)”, held a consultative meeting on the topic “Formulation of Updated Climate Commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan for the Energy, Water Resources, Transport, and Infrastructure Sectors.”

Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, as well as research institutes of the republic took part in the event.

Within the framework of thematic sessions, through presentations and discussions, the following topics were addressed: “Approaches to Developing the Nationally Determined Contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan – 3.0 (NDC 3.0): International Experience, Planning Stages, and Identification of Key Priority Areas,” “Integration of Adaptation and Mitigation Measures in the Development Process of Tajikistan’s NDC 3.0,” “Action Plan of the National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan up to 2030 for the Period 2025–2027 as a Mechanism for Monitoring and Planning Climate Adaptation Measures within NDC 3.0,” as well as other issues related to the impacts of climate change.

Fulfilling international climate commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement is one of the priority areas of state policy in the Republic of Tajikistan. In this context, the issues addressed during this event directly contribute to the country’s continued progress in meeting its commitments, as well as to strengthening national mechanisms for their implementation in order to achieve overall climate goals.
