The Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the project “Supporting the Enhancement of the Republic of Tajikistan’s Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement on Climate Change (NDC 3.0),” held a consultative meeting on March 14 of this year on the topic: “Formulating Updated Climate Commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan for the Agriculture, Industry, and Construction Sectors.”
The event was attended by representatives of the relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, as well as research institutes of the republic.
Fulfilling international climate commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement is one of the priority areas of state policy in the Republic of Tajikistan. In this context, the issues discussed during this event directly contribute to the country’s continued progress in meeting its obligations, as well as to strengthening national mechanisms for their implementation in order to achieve shared climate goals.
It should be noted that holding a consultative meeting with stakeholders is considered a necessary step to ensure cross-sectoral cooperation, incorporate the perspectives of representatives from the relevant ministries and agencies of the republic, and develop coordinated approaches to updating the Nationally Determined Contribution—3.0.
