On March 23, 2026, within the framework of the Second International Youth Navruz Festival in the Republic of Tajikistan, youth representatives from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) visited the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the beginning of the visit, the guests were introduced to the activities of the Dushanbe Meteorological Station, the Weather Forecasting Center, the mobile air quality monitoring laboratory, specialized vehicles for scientific and expeditionary work, equipment and special gear used for monitoring glaciers, snow cover, and glacial lakes, as well as photographic materials showcasing the unique natural landscapes of Tajikistan. The participants gained detailed insight into the daily work of specialists in the field, the use of modern technologies, methods of analysis and collection of hydrometeorological data, and received comprehensive information on their important role in ensuring environmental safety and sustainable development.

Subsequently, a roundtable discussion was held as part of the festival program on the topic “Climate Change and Youth Activism: Promoting Regional Action in the Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” with broad participation of guests and Agency staff.

It should be noted that the festival, inspired by the traditions of Navruz, symbolizes renewal, unity, and peace among nations. Its main objective is to bring together youth from around the world based on shared values such as peace, friendship, cultural diversity, and sustainable development. The event promotes cultural dialogue, exchange of views, and strengthening of mutual understanding among young people from different countries, providing a favorable platform for advancing youth initiatives. These initiatives are aimed at addressing pressing global challenges, including climate change, through public engagement, participation in policymaking, and the development of regional cooperation.
