On 25 May 2026, within the framework of the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018–2028, a meeting was held between the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Qurbonzoda Abdullah Habibullo, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Ms. Ko Barrett.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the coordination of the establishment of the Regional Cryosphere Coordination Centre in Dushanbe in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization, the implementation of the Roadmap for the “Early Warnings for All” (EW4ALL) initiative, the strengthening of the technical and institutional capacity of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, as well as the development of joint initiatives and prospects for further cooperation.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness to expand cooperation in the areas of cryosphere monitoring, early warning system development, and strengthening sectoral capacity.
