On July 31, 2025, a workshop was held to enhance technical transparency capabilities within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) initiative. The seminar was held with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the republic and was aimed at improving knowledge and skills in the field of monitoring, assessment and reporting on climate change adaptation measures.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Representative Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility.
During the seminar, the following topics were reviewed and discussed: "Review of the work programme on climate change mitigation under the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change", "Vulnerability of populations: women, children and youth in the context of climate change", "Guidelines and Action Plan for Monitoring and Assessment (M&E) NDC adaptation activities at the national, subnational, program and project levels." The working Groups analyzed and discussed in a practical way the problems of qualitative assessment of indicators of adaptation measures at the national level.
It should be noted that in accordance with the requirements of the international climate system, after 2020, all countries are required to increase efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as strengthen their resilience to the effects of climate change. The Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency was established by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to build institutional and technical capacity for reporting under the UNFCCC.
