On August 12, 2025, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Representative Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, a training on reporting in the waste management sector was conducted in accordance with the Guidelines of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on climate change) in 2006 with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments, universities and institutes of the country.
This training was organized within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) initiative and aims to enhance the technical knowledge and practical skills of national specialists in the preparation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reports in the waste management sector.
During the seminar, industry experts made presentations on the following topics: "Basic principles of reporting in the waste sector", "Categories of emission sources in the waste sector", "Data sources and calculation parameters for preparing a national report in the waste sector", "Gender sensitivity in climate reporting and in the development of national greenhouse gas inventories" and other questions.
It should be noted that such events play a key role in raising awareness among specialists about the key stages of developing a national inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including data collection, systematization and presentation.
