On October 2-3, 2025, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a national consultative meeting with representatives of Ministries and departments of the Republic on the establishment of a National Coordinating Council for an Expanded Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement.
During the event, issues of creating a National Coordinating Council for an Expanded Transparency Framework, electing the chairman and secretary of the Council from among representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the republic, as well as approving the Regulations on the Council were discussed.
It should be noted that the Republic of Tajikistan, as a country vulnerable to climate change, faces numerous challenges, including changes in the hydrological regime, melting glaciers, and an increased risk of natural phenomena. In this regard, the establishment of such a Council as a national coordination structure is important. The Council, acting as a national coordination platform, will make it possible to coordinate approaches and institutional roles in the field of climate change, strengthen national capacities and expand cooperation between ministries and departments.
This process provides an opportunity for the country to effectively and timely fulfill its obligations under the Paris Agreement and other international documents.
